STUDENT SELECTED TO PERFORM WITH NATIONAL COLLEGIATE FLUTE CHOIR IN ANAHEIM IN AUGUST

UNK- A University of Nebraska at Kearney flute student has been selected to perform with the collegiate flute choir at the National Flute Association Convention in Anaheim, Calif., in August.

Brooke Harris, a UNK music education and music performance major from Dickens, was recently notified of her selection. Harris is a student of Franziska Nabb, a lecturer in the UNK Department of Music & Performing Arts. Harris, who has played flute for 10 years, is a member of the UNK Marching Band, UNK Wind Ensemble and the Kearney Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Valerie Cisler, chair of the UNK Department of Music & Performing Arts, said: “I congratulate Brooke and her teacher on this prestigious honor. We are all pleased by Brooke’s impressive representation of the UNK music program at the national level.”

After graduation, Harris plans to teach as well as pursue graduate degrees in the field. She is the daughter of Scott and Deb Harris of Dickens.
