UNK- Beta Alpha Psi recently inducted 18 University of Nebraska at Kearney students into the inaugural year of the honor society.
The UNK College of Business and Technology is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). That accreditation enabled the college to petition for a chapter charter for Beta Alpha Psi. In Nebraska, there are now only four chapters, which include Creighton, UNK, University of Nebraska – Lincoln and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Nationwide, there are more than 260 chapters of the organization.
Beta Alpha Psi is an honor society for financial information students and professionals. The organization is evaluated based on service to their members, campus, community and profession. Currently, the UNK chapter is finishing this year’s participation in the volunteer tax assistance program (VTAP). Membership is open to students with majors and/or minors in accounting, finance and management information.
Recently, six officers for the new organization attended a regional conference in St. Louis with faculty adviser Dr. Janet Trewin. They include: Shannon Niemann of Bee, Brooke Young of Eustis, Rebecca Lineweber of Hallum, Brian Gough of Kearney, Nicole Blaschko of Ravenna and BrenDee Brauer of Sidney.
