UNK- The University of Nebraska at Kearney will host its inaugural Greek Week Carnival to support the ARC foundation at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, on the practice field located just south of University Residence South.

Micayla Anderson of Kearney, director of philanthropy for Panhellenic, said, “This event is bringing the entire Greek community together to do something positive for the Kearney community. We want to emphasize that doing community service is a big part of being Greek.”

The ARC foundation is the one of the world’s largest community-based organizations for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The foundation provides services and support for families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Events at the carnival include: a rubber duck pond, fishing, bowling, hula hoop, bracelet making, bean bag toss and face painting. There will also be various prizes and refreshments for participants.

Anderson also said that although this year’s event is only for people associated with the ARC foundation, she hopes that next year it will be big enough to make it a community-wide event.
