NEWS ADVISORY- NEBRASKA STATEHOOD BIRTHDAY PARTY SET FOR 9:30 A.M. WEDNESDAY, FEB. 28, IN UNK FINE ARTS RECITAL HALL

For the third consecutive year, the University of Nebraska at Kearney will be one of nine sites in the state to host a Nebraska Statehood Birthday party. At UNK, the event will take place tomorrow (Wednesday, Feb. 28) in the UNK Fine Arts Recital Hall.

Approximately 200 fourth graders from Axtell, Cozad, Elm Creek, Hastings, Kearney and Maxwell will attend to celebrate Nebraska statehood.

Chancellor Doug Kristensen will open the event with a welcome. Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale will speak to the group, and there will be musical and historical entertainment. Students will have an opportunity to share their knowledge of Nebraska history.

There will be a birthday cake, and students will be served UNK cookies.

Also, at the conclusion of the activities, campus tours will be available to visitors.
