INFORMATIONAL MEETING FOR MAY 2007 TRIP TO ITALY SET FOR 7 P.M. THURSDAY, APRIL 13, AT UNK

An informational meeting for Tuscany and Beyond, a 10-day trip to Italy in May 2007 sponsored by the University of Nebraska at Kearney Department of Family Studies and Interior Design, is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, in Otto Olsen Room 216.
    
Among the highlights of the tour will be Lake Maggiore’s Borromean islands, Pisa, Florence and Rome. While enjoying Lake Maggiore, there will be a boat excursion, and a visit to Baroque palace and its terraced gardens. The famous Leaning Tower of Pisa will be a destination as will Florence, where travelers will see Michelangelo’s David and visit Leonards Leather Workshop, where craftsmen will demonstrate steps used in the manufacture of the world-renowned Florentine leather goods.
    
In Rome, the group will tour the Vatican Museums to view the outstanding collections of masterpieces, including Michelangelo’s Last Judgment and brightly – colored ceiling frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. There will also be a guided tour of St. Peter’s Basilica. The group will also visit the Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon and other remarkable sites.
    
The tour is $2,819 and is open to the general public as well as to UNK students, faculty and staff.
