Fame, at least on a collegiate level, can be had Thursday, April 6, by students performing in the Fame Talent Show at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

The event, which begins at 7 p.m. in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room, features UNK students competing for cash prizes.

According to Jami Schaffnitt, coordinator of Student Activities, the format of Fame will be similar to the show last year. She said that the talent show is only open to UNK students to enter, but everyone is welcome to watch.

“Last year we had a variety of entries,” Schaffnitt said. “We had a clogging act, a performance by the Japanese Association at Kearney (JAK) choir, vocalists, instrumentalists and other performances.”

There will be separate categories for individual and group entries. Both will be judged by UNK faculty members selected by the Fame Committee. Winners in the competition will be announced at the conclusion of the show.

First through third place winners in the individual category will receive $400, $200 and $100, respectively. In the group category, first place will win $500; second place, $250; and third place, $150.

Fame is sponsored by Loper Programming and Activities Council and funded by UPFF.
