RICHARD C. SALMEN NAMED TO THE FINANCIAL PLANNING ASSOCIATION NATIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS

  – Richard C. Salmen,CFP®, CFA, CTFA, Senior Vice President and Senior Advisor with GTrust in the Overland Park, Kansas, office has been named to the National Board of Directors for The Financial Planning Association, based in Denver, Colorado. He will serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2006.

FPA was founded on the premise that the CFP® designation best represents the promise and the future of the financial planning profession.  Individuals holding the CFP® certification must meet high standards as defined by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards including a comprehensive certification examination, extensive educational and professional experience, compliance with the CFP®’s Board Code of Ethics, and rigorous continuing education requirements.

Salmen has worked in the financial industry for 16 years. As Senior Vice President and Senior Advisor, he manages the Fee-Only Advisory Practice for GTrust.  He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and was a graduate business scholar while receiving a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the University of Kansas.  He previously served on the Chapter Leadership Resource Council for The Financial Planning Association.

In addition to the CFP® designation, Salmen has also earned the internationally recognized  Chartered Financial Analyst, (CFA®) and the Institute of Certified Bankers, Certified Trust & Financial Analyst (CTFA), accreditations.   He is further credentialed as an Enrolled Agent (EA),  authorized to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service at all levels.

Salmen also serves on the advisory board for the Kansas State University financial planning degree program and on the Kansas/Nebraska Schools of Banking education board.  He is also a Certified Toastmaster (CTM) with Toastmasters International, a public speaking organization.
