Five members of the University of Nebraska at Kearney Advertising/Public Relations (Ad/PR) Club have been accepted into the national advertising honor society, Alpha Delta Sigma (ADS), according to Dr. Ruth Brown, UNK Ad/Pr Club adviser.
The students selected include: Jennifer Robinson of Albion, Karri Thunker of Bloomfield, Brittany Thalls of Kearney, and Anne Cady and Kelli Parmenter, both of Omaha. All are seniors at UNK.

Requirements for membership in ADS include a minimum 3.25 GPA overall and in their advertising-related coursework. In addition, applicants must be members of a student club affiliated with the American Advertising Federation (AAF) and be nominated by the club adviser.

“I’m very pleased that we had so many UNK Ad/PR Club students eligible for membership in ADS this year,” Dr. Brown said. “It shows the quality of the students in our program.”

Organized in 1913 at the University of Missouri, Columbia, ADS is the world’s first advertising fraternity. It is also the only national professional advertising honor society in American higher education. Truth, persistence and cooperation are guiding principles for the society.

ADS sends the selected students’ names and contact information to all member agencies and organizations in the AAF. The students also receive pins, certificates and honor cords to wear at graduation.
