SEVEN NEW OFFICERS ELECTED TO UNK STUDENTS IN FREE ENTERPRISE TEAM

New officers have recently been elected to the University of Nebraska at Kearney Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team. SIFE is a global, nonprofit organization of student teams on more than 1,600 university campuses in 40 countries. It offers students the opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills through learning, practicing and teaching the  principles of free enterprise.

Along with the aid of faculty advisers, SIFE teams teach important concepts through educational outreach projects, including market economics, entrepreneurship, personal and financial success, and business ethics. They strive to better themselves, their communities and their countries.

The UNK SIFE group is made up of 23 members including freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors from four different nations and a wide variety of majors.

New officers, listed alphabetically by hometown, include:

Benkelman- Sara Glidden, vice president
Grand Island- Cami Partridge, historian; Justine Riedy, historian
Kearney- Ryan Rodehorst, treasurer
Springview- Emmy Arens, historian
Verdigre- Sue Ellen Scofield, secretary

MOLDOVA
Rybnitsa- Olga Stasishena, president

The team has several projects underway this fall, guided by faculty sponsor Dr. Susan Jensen of the Department of Marketing/Management. One project this year is “Donuts and Dollars” seminars, designed to offer UNK students an opportunity  to strengthen their financial literacy skills.
