HARDESTY NAMED DEAN OF CALVIN T. RYAN LIBRARY AT UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT KEARNEY

Dr. Larry Hardesty has been named dean of Calvin T. Library at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK). Dr. Hardesty, who holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from UNK, was college librarian at Austin (Texas) College and has served as director of library services at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla. He has held numerous positions in the Association of Colleges & Research Libraries, including president (1999-2000), member of the board of directors, chair of the college libraries section (1995-1996), member of the College and Research Libraries Editorial Board (1990-1996) and chair of the Charlotte ACRL National Conference (2003). In 2001, Dr. Hardesty was named the ACRL Academic Research Librarian of the Year, and in 2002, he received an outstanding alumnus award from UNK. Previously, he received the distinguished alumnus award from the School of Library and Information Studies of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2002), where he earned his MALA, and the Indiana University School of Library and Information Science (2000), where he earned a Ph.D. in library and information science. Currently, Dr. Hardesty is a member of the ALA Council and directs the College Library Directors’ Mentor Program.
