Dusty Newton has been named interim director of the Office of Admissions at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

He will fill the position vacated earlier this summer by John Kundel, who resigned to take a position as associate vice chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at the University of Missouri-St. Louis

“We have a great team of people here in the Admissions office,” Newton said. “We’ll continue to drive on toward our goal of recruiting students to come to UNK.” While serving as interim director, he will continue his duties as the associate director of Admissions.

Newton began at UNK in 1998 as an Admissions counselor and earned his master’s in education in counseling, with an emphasis in student affairs, from UNK. Newton was named associate director in 2003, after serving as an assistant director for two years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Hastings College.
