BEST WORK BY AN UNDERGRADUATE AWARDED TO UNK STUDENT

The editorial board of the Plains Song Review vol.4, published by the Center for Great Plains Studies, has awarded the Award for Best Work by an Undergraduate to University of Nebraska Kearney English and Biology major, Melissa Beery from Norfolk. A reading and reception will be held on Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. at the Great Plains Art Collections at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Other poets being published in this volume include William Kloefkorn, Marjorie Saiser, and Twyla Hansen, poets who have or will be soon featured in the Reynolds Writers and Readers Series.

The two works Melissa submitted were two poems entitled, “Sundays” and “Feeding the Town Chickens”. Works are submitted, and the board selects one winner from the entire Nebraska University system.
