HANDWRITING CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED

assistant professor, Department of Teacher Education, 308.865.8556

Winning entries have been selected in four age categories of the Twelfth Annual Competition of the Nebraska Handwriting Contest, administered by the University of Nebraska at Kearney and endorsed by the Nebraska State Education Association and the Nebraska State Department of Education.  Prizes are awarded for first and second place, sponsored by Follett’s Campus Bookstore of Kearney.  The entries were evaluated for ease of reading, fluent rhythmic movement with technically correct performance of specifications such as the slope, space, size and shape of the letters.  The general layout of the entry was taken into account along with neatness of presentation.

“The broad appeal of the content was demonstrated by entries from all regions of the state and in all age categories.  Elementary teachers, one again, were especially supportive of the curriculum-based activity,” said Julie Agard, Assistant Professor of Education.

In the age 50 and over category entrants ranged from age 50 to more than 90 + years of age.  Interesting letters accompanied a number of entries.
