KEARNEY – A computer science and information technology team at University of Nebraska at Kearney placed third in the robotics competition at the April 10 Midwest Instructional Computing Symposium in Grand Forks, N.D.

Ian Lim of Grand Island and Keathan Fertig of Kearney, both junior computer science majors, competed in a three-point shooting robotics competition. They were among five UNK robotics teams and three programming competition teams that competed against university teams from South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois.

In the robotics competition, teams designed, built and programmed robots that autonomously attempted to find a ball and shoot the ball at a basket from behind the three-point line. Each robot tried to score as many points as possible in two minutes.
