The America Association for Higher Education chose Dr. Ruth Brown, University of Nebraska at Kearney assistant professor, to lead a roundtable dicussion at a consulting breakfast Feb.4 in Tampa, FL.
Dr. Brown and her topic, “Building a Sense of Community Online,” were selected out of nationwide applicants.
The theme of the conference was, “The Changing Professoriate: New Technologies, New Generation,” and it “Brought together key players and the best there is to know about these two key areas of change,” said R. Eugene Rice, director of AAHE Forum on Faculty Roles and Rewards.
Dr. Brown said that the breakfast was a great experience because many people from across the U.S. were interested in her topic.
“When I started talking about building community online, they found themselves examining not only how to incorporate this into distance education, but also how to improve their face-to-face classes using this technique,” Brown said.
