Viva Flamenco! Ronald Radford, one of the most widely acclaimed Flamenco guitarists touring today will make his mark on Kearney in just a few weeks (Jan. 29-31). On January 30, Radford will perform in the University of Nebraska Fine Arts Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. He also plans to tour area elementary and middle schools in Kearney to perform for students his varied and entertaining program of haunting Gypsy melodies and dazzling Flamenco techniques.
His concerts combine music and illuminating and humorous narration for the audience to help learn them about Flamenco and the Spanish culture, to spread a drug-free message and to get them involved in the performance.
Radford’s dynamic performances have taken him to four continents and areas like Mexico City, New York’s Carnegie Hall and Washington’s Kennedy Center. In addition, Radford is the protege of the legendary Carlos Montoya and is the only individual to be awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in Flamenco. Radford’s ability to combine song, dance, culture and a powerful message will be a concert you don’t want to miss.
