The Reynolds Writers & Readers Series opens at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA) with readings by UNK Poet Charles Fort.
Fort will present Blues of a Mumbling Train. The founder and director of the Reynolds Readers & Writer Series, Fort holds the Distinguished Paul W. Reynolds and Clarice Kingston Reynolds Endowed Chair in Poetry.
He has received numerous national awards for poetry including: The Best American Poetry (2000, 2003), the Mississippi Review Award Anthology (2001, 2002) and the Emily Dickinson Award Anthology (1996, 1997, 2000). His poems have appeared in 26 anthologies, including Making Literature Matter: An Anthology for Readers and Writers in 2003.
The Reynolds Readers & Writers Series was founded in 1998 and has brought more than 60 writers from around the world to UNK, including Pulitzer Prize winners, National Book Award finalists and then-future Poet Laureate, Ted Kooser.
According to Fort, the series, which is held at MONA, allows people to become acquainted with the visual and literary arts. People can learn about the writer’s works, ask questions about the writer’s creative process and the writer’s life.
