Members were recently inducted into Epsilon Pi Tau, the honor society for industrial technology, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Epsilon Pi Tau is an international honor society for students who have demonstrated academic excellence and show leadership potential in industrial technology. To be considered for inclusion in Epsilon Pi Tau, students must rank in the top 25 percent of undergraduates in approved programs based on cumulative grade point average (GPA) reported by the institution’s registrar, have achieved a cumulative GPA no less than 3.25 in major courses or the relevant sequence of courses and a 3.00 GPA overall, have earned at least 16 semester hours in the major and have their application approved by the department faculty.
Membership in Epsilon Pi Tau allows students to advance their understanding, appreciation and awareness of technology, provide professional status for the fields that comprise education in technology, provide a medium for professional development, and recognize individual members for leadership and achievement. In addition to a recognition program, Epsilon Pi Tau supports the technology professions through publications, conferences, leadership and alliances with corporations, professional associations, government agencies and nongovernmental organizations.
The honor society was founded in 1929, and currently has more than 120 chapters in the United States and internationally.
On the UNK campus, Dr. Ken Larson, a professor in the Department of Industrial Technology, is the adviser.
