Children taking part in the annual “Frank House Easter Egg Hunt” Saturday, April 7, on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus will fill their baskets with candy, fun facts and prizes, according to KrisAnn Sullivan, Frank House director.
The hunt, which is open to the children ages one – 10, who are accompanied by a responsible adult, will begin at 1:30 p.m. on the Frank House grounds. Eggs will be hidden throughout the Frank House gardens by area high school student volunteers.
“This is a great chance for the younger members of the community to come and enjoy the Frank House and its history,” said April Refior, Frank House Saturday events volunteer coordinator. “After the youngsters have had their fun, everyone can come inside for a tour of the beautiful, historic home.”
The event is open to the public, with a suggested donation of $3. Children will need to bring their own baskets, as baskets will not be provided. In case of inclement weather, the hunt will be held on the veranda and house interior.
The “Frank House Easter Egg Hunt” is a part of the “Saturday at the Frank House” series. The entire series is presented by UNK volunteers and the Kearney community.
“’Saturday at the Frank House’ volunteers help make the public aware of the importance of the house to the community and of its needs,” Sullivan said. “Donations are always appreciated in support of the Frank House.”
Upcoming “Saturday at the Frank House” events include: “Spring String Concert,” April 21; “Fencing Like the Franks,” April 28; and “Flutes at the Frank House,” May 5.
