The University of Nebraska at Kearney Fun 5K Walk/Run will be held Saturday, April 14, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The race will begin at the Cope Memorial Fountain, continue around campus and finish back at the fountain by coming under University View, according to Heather Wolf, coordinator of UNK Student Activities.
Prizes donated from local sponsors will be drawn at the completion of the race, and all participants receive free t-shirts. Registration fees will go toward the Student Leadership Scholarship fund.
“Last year, the race had a record number with more than 500 participants, 12 business sponsors, and raised over $3,000,” Wolf said.
Registration is free to students who sign up before 5 p.m. on Friday, April 6, or $10 any time afterwards. The non-student entry fee is $15, if received before 5 p.m. on Friday, April 6, or $20 any time afterwards. Race packets can be picked up at the Nebraskan Student Union Welcome Desk Friday, April 13, from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. or the morning of the race at 8 a.m.
