The University of Nebraska at Kearney was alive with energy Friday as students, faculty, staff and community members gathered for annual Blue Gold Welcome events on campus. Festivities began with the Parade of Lopers, which showcased the Pride of the Plains Marching Band and set the tone for the evening. Following the parade, students gathered for the convocation, where they were formally welcomed to the new academic year by interim Chancellor Charlie Bicak and other campus leaders. The celebration culminated with Blue Gold Showcase, where more than 2,000 attendees visited 218 booths featuring local businesses, campus organizations and other UNK partners. The showcase also included a community picnic hosted by Bicak, offering a chance for students to connect with each other and the Kearney community.
