KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska at Kearney and University of Nebraska Foundation are launching the Lopers Going Toe-to-Toe online crowdfunding campaign in support of the new Loper Success Hub as part of the renovated Calvin T. Ryan Library at UNK.

From May 1-10, supporters are encouraged to make an online gift to support the Loper Success Hub. Gifts of any amount can be made, with gifts of $30 or more qualifying for a complimentary pair of Loper socks. Gifts may be made online at fundraise.nufoundation.org/toetotoe.

Opening on the second floor of the library later this summer, the Loper Success Hub expands the original Learning Commons and brings together offices and staff for student success and support services, including the Writing Center and Subject Tutoring, Success Coaching, TRIO, Disability Services for Students, Kearney Bound Scholars, First-Gen Success and Academic Advising and Career Development.

“The opening of the Loper Success Hub will have an immediate impact on the student experience at UNK,” said George Holman, associate vice chancellor of student affairs. “It will eliminate barriers, surround students with support and lead to increased persistence and retention.”

The striped socks, featuring UNK blue and gold with the Loper mascot, were designed exclusively for this event.

Participants can give and follow the event’s progress at the Lopers Going Toe-To-Toe website. The campaign’s goal is to raise $10,000. Gifts will allow UNK to invest in learning materials, resources and other enhancements to the Hub that will help students continue their graduation path.

“The Loper Success Hub combines so many of our needs as students,” said Macie Farber, a sophomore at UNK majoring in business administration with an emphasis in management. “It’s great to have a place to meet with groups as well as to study on my own.”

The socks will be mailed within two to three weeks after the campaign’s completion.
