Kearney Symphony Orchestra opens 118th season with Tuesday evening concert

KEARNEY – Kearney Symphony Orchestra will open its 118th season with a performance 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Fine Arts Recital Hall on campus.

“Voices of Innovation” includes works from John Corigliano, Paul Dukas, Carl Maria von Weber and Pietro Mascagni. The featured guest is clarinetist Elizandro Garcia-Montoya, playing Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1 in F Minor.

A pre-concert talk is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. that evening in the Fine Arts Building, Room 243.

Tickets range from $5 to $13 and can be purchased through the UNK Theatre Box Office, which is open 12:30 to 5 p.m. weekdays and one hour prior to the performance. For reservations, call 308-865-8417 or email boxoffice@unk.edu. UNK students with a current ID can attend the concert free of charge.

Kearney Symphony Orchestra is the oldest orchestra in Nebraska. Its members include UNK students and faculty, community volunteers and area professional musicians.
