Patty Seevers, office associate for UNK Admissions, received the University of Nebraska Board of Regents KUDOS award during last week’s meeting.
KUDOS awards recognize university staff for their professional expertise, service and “superior dedication” to UNK and the University of Nebraska. It is the university’s top staff award.
A Cozad native, Seevers attended the Lincoln School of Commerce after high school and worked at CHI Health Good Samaritan for 32 years before joining the UNK staff in 2014.
Her workspace is located near the main entrance of the Nebraskan Student Union, so Seevers is often one of the first people visitors meet. Her responsibilities include greeting visitors and assisting guests who come for campus visits, arranging meetings between prospective students and professors, interacting with campus colleagues and answering questions – lots and lots of questions. Always positive, enthusiastic, energetic and willing to go the extra mile, supervisors and colleagues agree she is perfect for the position.
“The best aspect of my job is interacting with current students, faculty and staff who come into the union for meetings, to shop at the Spirit Shop or enjoy the fine dining facilities we have at UNK,” Seevers says.
A past recipient of the UNK Employee Achievement Award, Seevers served five years as president of the Kearney Catholic High School Foundation and she and husband Tony have twice chaired the Kearney Catholic Foundation GOLD Dinner Auction.
Most important of all, they are parents to son Jordan and daughter Emily and five-time grandparents.
