Giving Tuesday is opportunity to help UNK students through difficult times

The University of Nebraska at Kearney community can support students on Giving Tuesday, today’s annual global day of giving.

Founded in 2012, #GivingTuesday inspires people to come together on one day (Dec. 1) to support the causes they believe in.

This year, the University of Nebraska Foundation invites the Loper community to consider supporting the UNK Student Crisis Fund with a contribution to its crowdfunding campaign underway this holiday season.

The Student Crisis Scholarship Fund was created to help UNK students who face financial hardship. Whether due to unexpected medical expenses, loss of employment or a decrease in financial support from parents facing hardship, UNK students are finding it more difficult to continue or complete their education.

The fund enables UNK’s administration to provide scholarship awards to students who may otherwise not be able to continue their education. This is especially important now during the coronavirus pandemic, when many students and their families are experiencing a range of difficulties.
