UNK students hosting 5K color run to support Make-A-Wish Nebraska

Update: This event has been canceled.

KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee are hosting a 5K color run/walk to raise money for Make-A-Wish Nebraska.

The event is scheduled for April 4 in the northeast parking lot at Kearney High School, 2702 W. 11th St., with check-in and registration from 1-1:45 p.m., followed by the color run/walk at 2 p.m. All ages are welcome.

The 5K begins at Kearney High and loops around Yanney Heritage Park before finishing back at the high school. Along the route, participants will stop at designated stations to complete challenges organized by UNK student-athletes and, of course, get covered in color.

Registration cost is $20 per participant, plus an online processing fee. This includes an event T-shirt, wristband, sunglasses and food after the race.

Visit unk.crowdchange.co/10795 to register, purchase apparel or make a donation. Registration is open until 1:45 p.m. April 4, but participants are asked to sign up by March 22 to guarantee a T-shirt in their size is available.

All proceeds from the event support Make-A-Wish Nebraska, which has granted more than 2,750 wishes for children across the state battling critical illnesses.

Pi Kappa Alpha and the UNK Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hope to raise over $5,000 to help send a child to Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
