The UNK Jazz/Rock Ensemble performed a free public concert Wednesday evening at the Fine Arts Recital Hall on campus.
The performance was directed by UNK music professor Tim Farrell, with UNK student and guitarist Carlos Vargas serving as assistant director. Concert and jazz saxophonist Matt Patnode, a professor of saxophone and jazz at North Dakota State University, was a guest soloist.
One of the top performing and touring groups on campus, the Jazz/Rock Ensemble serves as a laboratory for music students to hone their jazz performance skills and as a small ensemble for UNK students who want to play big band jazz. All UNK students are eligible to audition.
