The University of Nebraska at Kearney campus will close Thursday, March 14, because of blizzard conditions forecast for Kearney and central Nebraska.
In the best interest of safety, UNK facilities staff, law enforcement and administration made the decision Wednesday afternoon.
The forecast for snow and high winds will likely produce blizzard-like conditions, making travel difficult. Additionally, colder temperatures will likely create hazardous ice conditions across already-saturated campus sidewalks and parking lots. As with all closing decisions, essential personnel should report to their supervisor.
