KEARNEY – Shawn Lienemann has received the 2017 Technology Excellence Award at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
The award recognizes exemplary performance of Information Technology Services staff who “consistently provide a level of service significantly above and beyond specific job responsibilities.”
Lienemann is a workstation support specialist for Technology Helpdesk and technology coordinator for the College of Education. He has worked at UNK since 2013, and prior to that worked three years in Information Technology Services while a student at the university.
Lienemann provides tech support for the College of Education in addition to his Technology Helpdesk duties, which include managing general purpose computers in three labs and multiple email counters, supporting more than 40 Pharos Uniprint workstations, and working with vendors on standard configurations for workstations and laptops .
He is a member of the College of Education Technology Committee and works cooperatively with the committee, department chairs, faculty and staff to identify issues that impact student learning and faculty teaching. He has updated classroom technology, inventoried and replaced old equipment, and developed a replacement schedule for computers, in addition to mentoring student workers and addressing day-to-day problems.
Lienemann also has played a critical role in the redesign of College of Education student computer labs to meet the needs of students and educators.
Employees of IT services are eligible to receive the Technology Excellence Award of ,500. Nominations are made by faculty, staff or co-workers. The first award was presented in 2010.
