KEARNEY – University of Nebraska at Kearney Alumni Association is hosting on Oct. 4 an inaugural Taste of Kearney event for the community to sample local food while Kearney-area restaurants showcase their cuisine.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cope Stadium and will be a pre-game event for the UNK versus University of Central Oklahoma football game.
Participants in Taste of Kearney will buy tickets for $1 and then exchange them for tastes at each vendor’s station. Student tickets are half price. The event is modeled after other large, successful community events such as “Taste of Chicago.”
Businesses will be able to set up the evening before or morning prior to the event. The event will close after kickoff to the game, at 2 p.m.
Restaurants and food establishments are asked to register for the event by Sept. 19 so space reservations and promotions can be planned. Cost to reserve space is $50.
