KEARNEY – Nearly 90 companies and graduate schools will be represented at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Spring Career Fair on Feb. 20.
The event, free and open to the public, is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Health and Sports Center.
Aaron Estes, assistant director of Academic and Career Services, said the career fair is a good opportunity for students to see what types of jobs are available.
“Students hear a lot about the challenging job market and how hard it is to find a job,” Estes said. “The Career Fair is a place where you’ve got a large number of employers who are there to fill open positions that are currently available.”
Not only is the Career Fair a great job resource for recent graduates or for students who are graduating soon, he added, the event is a good opportunity for younger students.
“It’s valuable for younger students because they can practice their networking skills and learn about the opportunities available so they can make informed decisions when they graduate.
“The more experience you can get, the better off you’ll be.”
One additional event, College of Business and Technology Networking Reception, is also being hosted to prepare students for the Career Fair. Juniors and seniors are invited to practice their networking skills with faculty and business professionals from across the state. The event is from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 19) at the Kearney Country Club.
More than 100 students and about 50 business professionals are expected to attend. Those interested in attending must RSVP by Feb. 18 to unkcbtcareercenter@unk.edu.
Business professional attire is recommended for all events.
The Career Fair is sponsored by the Buckle, Orthman Manufacturing, Saint-Gobain Abrasives and Viaero Wireless.
