Kearney, Neb., March 28, 2013 — The Asian American Student Association and the Office of Multicultural Affairs will host “Asian Extravaganza” on April 1 at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

The free, public event will take place in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room from 7 to 9 p.m.

For this year’s celebration, students from China, Japan and Korea and the Philippines, will be teaming up together to create a night of celebration of their cultures, said Monica Mueller, assistant director of the UNK Office of Multicultural Affairs.

The students have planned the night as part of a series of events for Asian Heritage Month with performances inspired from the different countries alongside traditional Asian foods.

“The students of the Asian American Student Association hope to teach UNK students and the Kearney community about the heritage of Asian cultures,” said AASA president Kevanie Damit-Og.
