Kearney, Neb., March 28, 2013 — The eighth annual Big Event day of community service hosted by the University of Nebraska at Kearney will take place April 6. The day of service begins with a 9:30 a.m. gathering at Foster Field.
Hundreds of UNK students, faculty and staff members will participate in the effort to say “thanks” to the Kearney community for the support it gives the campus. Participants will receive a free t-shirt to be worn that day.
Last year, more than 600 students and faculty volunteered at more than 80 job sites. Volunteers will once again participate in service projects that benefit nonprofit organizations, churches and individuals in the Kearney
area.
The Big Event is one of the largest student-run community service efforts in the nation and is an annual event at more than 70 universities.
