Japanese fashion, origami and games will be part of the offerings at the Japanese Festival on Saturday, March 2, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
The festival, which is sponsored by the Japanese Association of Kearney (JAK), will be held from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Ponderosa Room, located on the second floor of the Nebraskan Student Union. The event is free and open to the public, and is funded by the University Programming and Facility Fee (UPFF).
UNK Japanese students will present a drama, a fashion show of Japanese traditional clothing, the Japanese Yosakoi Dance, Japanese music and games. There will also be booths featuring origami, calligraphy and other Japanese items.
Among the foods that the UNK Japanese students will serve are Japanese yakitori (chicken) fried meat and ginger, rice with egg and chicken, and fruit punch.
