The Financial Aid Office at the University of Nebraska at Kearney will host FAFSA Fridays starting Friday, Feb. 1.
“We are hosting FAFSA Fridays to encourage students to complete their FAFSA applications early, so that they can meet the Collegebound Nebraska deadline and be eligible for additional first-come, first-served grants,” said Ingrid Rodriguez of Grand Island, peer adviser for the UNK Financial Aid Office.
FAFSA Fridays are set to take place every Friday in February from 8 a.m. – 1p.m. in The Living Room at the Nebraskan Student Union.
The series is designed for both incoming freshman and returning students. Students who attend will need to bring a computer or iPad, student and parent 2012 tax return forms, student and parent Department of Education pin numbers, and the student’s driver’s license.
“For students who cannot bring a computer or iPad, we can provide the resources to complete the FAFSA application,” said Marissa Ridenour, office associate for the Financial Aid Office. “We can also assist families with establishing Department of Education PIN numbers.”
“If FAFSA Friday times do not work for students, students also have the option of making an appointment with a peer adviser in the Financial Aid Office for assistance with the FAFSA application,” Rodriguez said.
Collegebound Nebraska, the University of Nebraska’s expanded financial aid program, provides free tuition for students who meet academic and family income qualifications.
Regular walk-in-hours for the UNK Financial Aid office are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
