Healthy Relationships, Life Expectations and Stalking Awareness will be among the topics of the Women’s Symposium to be held Thursday, Nov. 8, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

“The Women’s Symposium is an opportunity for UNK to support, and recognize the needs and struggles faced by women in today’s society,” said Erin Hullinger of Omaha, vice president of programming for the Panhellenic Council. “It is also an excellent chance to celebrate, and recognize the rights and opportunities now available to women.”

The symposium is sponsored by the UNK Panhellenic Council and will take place from 4- 8:15 p.m. in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room. The event is free and open to the public.

The Five Love Languages is also the subject of a presentation during the symposium. Among the students and faculty who will be giving presentations are: Kiphany Hof, a mental health practitioner from the UNK Counseling Center; Kendra Wurdeman, a senior undergraduate social work student; Anna Hain, a graduate assistant at the Women’s Center; and Dr. Sylvia Asay, professor and department chair in family studies and interior design.

There will also be a Men’s and Women’s Panel comprised of Dayana Rodriguez of Grand Island, Whitney Nelson of Hastings, Jordan Moncrief of Kearney, Pierre Jefferson of Lincoln, Kelan Schumacher of Lindsay, and Heather Wolf, UNK assistant director of student activities.
