The campus and the community will have an opportunity to experience the Nepalese culture during “A Cultural Rendezvous from Nepal” on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
The event, which is being hosted by the Nepalese Student Association at Kearney (NESAK), will take place in the Ponderosa Room of the Nebraskan Student Union. Programming for the event will include traditional Nepalese dance and songs, as well as a presentation about the festival and the Nepalese culture. The event is free and open to the public.
According to Ramesh Neupane of Nepal, the different types of food bring served at the event will include Pulao, rice mixed with cashew and other spices; chicken curry; Aalu aachar (pickle of potato); tomato aachar; and yogurt.
“We have organized this event to show the Nepalese culture to UNK students and the Kearney community,” Neupane said. “It is a night of celebration, and authentic food and cultural experience.”
Neupane is a graduate student in student affairs and counseling.
