The Frank House at the University of Nebraska at Kearney is set to host Phantoms at the Frank House on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 1:30 p.m.

According to Sally Hale of the Frank House, the event, which is free and open to the public, is recommended for children ages 10 and under. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

UNK students and volunteers, dressed in costumes, will read Halloween stories and pass out treats to attendees as they trick-or-treat in various rooms of the home.

“Reading to visitors at the Frank House last year was a special experience for me,” Hale said.  “From the things I heard from the children and parents, I could tell it was a special time for all of us.

“Last year, I read ‘Zen Ghosts’ by Jon J. Muth, a colorful story that, in the end, gave the

children a question to ponder,” Hale said. “This is a great opportunity to connect to the home during this beautiful fall season and get some extra use out of your costumes!”

Regular walk-in-hours at the Frank House are Monday through Friday, 2-5 p.m., and Saturday, noon-5 p.m. The Frank House is closed during UNK breaks and holidays. Donations are always accepted.
