Enter, if you dare, the “Abandoned Asylum” in the University of Nebraska at Kearney Fine Arts Building on Saturday, Oct. 20, between the hours of 8 p.m. and midnight.

“The haunted house is free to UNK students who live on campus,” said Liz Hudec of Fremont, event coordinator. “Just show your ID at the door and let us know what residence hall you live in.”

For off-campus students and the general public, admission to the haunted house is $1 or one canned good. All proceeds go to Campus Kitchen, which prepares meals for those in the Kearney community who need assistance.

“The ‘Asylum’ was abandoned in 1905 and is opening its doors again to those who wish to enter,” Hudec said. “Those who enter must be wary of a restless soul, Edgar, who has come back to avenge the endless torture he endured as a patient in the asylum.”

The “Abandoned Asylum” is sponsored by LoperNites, the Art Society and the UNK theatre department. Hudec, the event coordinator for the “Abandoned Asylum,” is the president of the Art Society.
