Two senior art majors at the University of Nebraska at Kearney have their senior projects on exhibit in the Walker Gallery.

The two, Jeremy Eggleston of Loup City and Stephani Romero of Kearney, are displaying mixed media pieces and oil paintings, respectively. Eggleston said the theme of his project is “exploits in material development.

“The relativity of viewing a work of art was as much at question as anything else,” Eggleston said. “I wished to address this with an added focus on the usefulness of materials.” Eggleston is graduating this semester. He plans to go on to graduate school to earn a MFA in studio art, with a focus on interdisciplinary studies.

Romero has 10 oil paintings on display. Among the works are “Pieces of What,” “Sunday Warning” and “Dig for Fire.” Each of her paintings were created using oil paint on canvas; on three she added an acrylic overlay. Romero is scheduled to graduate in May 2012, and she plans to travel abroad.

The Walker Art Gallery, which is located in the UNK Fine Arts Building, is open from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. The exhibit will conclude on Friday.
