The University of Nebraska at Kearney Delta Tau Delta fraternity is sponsoring a “Chip and Delts Pasta Feed” on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 5-8 p.m. at the Harmon Park Activity Center.
Admission to the pasta feed will be $3; children five-and-under will dine for free. Advance reservations will not be necessary.
All proceeds will go to the A.R.C. Foundation for people with intellectual and development disabilities, and their families. The foundation is directed towards people of all ages and spectrums from autism, Down syndrome, Fragile X and other various developmental disabilities.
“We chose the A.R.C. Foundation, because all of the fraternities and sororities help them out with Honey Sunday,” said Wesley Edson, a UNK student from Farnam and Delta Tau Delta philanthropy chair for the event. “At our scholarship banquet, [they said] they were running a little low on funds, so we have decided to help them out.” On Honey Sunday, UNK fraternities and sororities go door-to-door throughout the Kearney community selling honey for donations. The funds raised go towards the A.R.C. Foundation.
During the pasta feed, fundraising auctions will also take place, including a Date with a Delt, a Sperry shoes auction and Delt tanktops. Two $50 gift cards to the Buckle will also be available as prizes.
“A Date with a Delt is when a member of Delta Tau Delta will be auctioned off, and the winner is taken on a date with all expenses paid for by the Delt that they won,” Edson said. “We chose Sperry shoes, because they are very fashionable right now, and many people around campus wear them.” The tank tops will have the Delta Tau Delta symbol on them, a triangle-T-triangle, on the front and have “D-Tau 2011 What A Rush” on the back.
