DESIGN STUDENTS AT UNK WIN SEVEN NATIONAL BRASS RING AWARDS

Six University of Nebraska at Kearney students recently earned seven Brass Ring Awards in a national design competition.

More than 2,000 students from 60 universities and 20 high schools nationwide entered work into the competition, which is held at Oklahoma Christian University. The Brass Ring Awards were established 25 years ago to motivate and reward students for excellence in art and design, according to the competition website.

The UNK award winners are listed below, alphabetically by hometown:
Doniphan – Lacie Wiese, bronze award for “Vertigo” movie poster
Fort Calhoun – Kat Tinkham, bronze award for “Retail Coffee” packaging
Kearney – Julie Polk, bronze award for “Copper Wire coffee” packaging; Kyle Sayler, gold award for “Honor them, Vote” poster and a         merit award for “AGOGE” t-shirt design
Lexington – Jake Hoffmaster, merit award for “RidgeBack” clothing tags
Lincoln – Nick Bartels, bronze award for “Gonzo” logo design
