COMEDIAN STEVE BYRNE PERFORMS WEDNESDAY (APRIL 6) FOR RHA WEEK 2011

Comedian Steve Byrne will highlight Residence Hall Association (RHA) Week 2011, April 4-8,  on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus.

Byrne will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the Health and Sports Center. His performance is free for UNK students and $5 for non-students.

Byrne is perhaps best known for his specials on Comedy Central. His “Comedy Central Presents Half Hour Special” premiered in 2006. In 2008, “Steve Byrne’s Happy Hour” one-hour special was aired, and last summer, he had another one-hour special titled “The Byrne Identity.” He has also appeared on “Chappelle’s Show,” “Tough Crowd” with Colin Quinn and The History Channel’s “History of the Joke.”

In addition, he has also been featured on USO tours to Iraq and Afghanistan. His first tours were with Colin Quinn and Drew Carey. In 2008, he made his own USO tour to Afghanistan, and in 2009, made USO tours to Japan and Guam. In addition, he has been part of several national comedy tours, and has opened for musical acts Kanye West, Mariah Carey and others.

Byrne’s performance is just one of a week-long series of events and activities taking place as part of RHA Week 2011, according the Jen Kacere, UNK residence hall complex director.
