The 2010 winner of the Great American Comedy Festival and Boston’s Comedian of the Year Joe Wong will perform at the University of Nebraska at Kearney on Thursday, Feb. 10.
The performance will begin at 8 p.m. in the Ponderosa Room, which is located on the second floor of the Nebraskan Student Union. The event is free to students, and $3 for general admission.
“This is the first time that Joe Wong has performed at UNK,” said Tim Danube, Nebraskan Student Union associate director.
Wong, a native of Boston, is the six-time winner of the Standup Comedy Contest at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, Mass., and has made several appearances on David Letterman and the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
“Wong grew up in China, and while most of his humor deals with figuring out America or explaining China, he has worked in personal material that does not depend on culture clash,” said Neil McCabe of the Somerville (Mass.) News.
