CONCERTS-ON-THE-PLATTE SERIES PRESENTS DR. SETH FLETCHER ON EUPHONIUM MONDAY, APRIL 12

UNK– The University of Nebraska at Kearney Concerts-on-the-Platte series presents Dr. Seth Fletcher on the euphonium on Monday, April 12, at UNK.

The Concerts-on-the-Platte series is sponsored by the UNK Department of Music and Performing Arts. The recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the UNK Fine Arts Recital Hall. Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.

Dr. Fletcher will be performing a variety of selections for the euphonium including “Sonata No. 2 in E Minor, Op. 2” by Benedetto Marcello, “Cinematheque” by Eric Schwartz and “Sonata” by Matthew Durrant.

Dr. Fletcher earned a bachelor of music degree in instrumental music education from Tennessee Technological University and a master of music degree in performance from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England. He recently completed a doctor of musical arts degree in euphonium performance and a certificate in music theory pedagogy at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Before arriving at UNK, Dr. Fletcher served as the founding director the Manchester Community Band in Manchester, Tenn.

He has performed and recorded as a soloist and with several groups. In 2007, Dr. Fletcher performed with the 40thAnniversary Tennessee Tech All-Star Tuba Ensemble at Carnegie Hall. He has performed with the Tennessee Tech Symphony Band, the Tennessee Tech Orchestra, the Tintwistle Brass Band and the Douglas High School Concert Band.

Dr. Fletcher has promoted new research in brass pedagogy and performance at the 2007 Southeast Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference at Western Carolina University and the 2007 Southwest Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference at the University of Arizona.
