Reservations Being Accepted for Monday, Feb. 8, UNK Senior Day

UNK– Reservations are still being accepted for the University of Nebraska at Kearney Senior Day which will take place on the campus Monday, Feb. 8.

“Senior Day is an open house for high school seniors to check out the UNK campus and see if it is the best college for them,” said Jodi Phillips, UNK admissions counselor. “Students will get a tour of the campus and have the opportunity to check out some student organizations and opportunities through the breakout sessions.”

Reservations are being accepted until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3. For more information, or to register, call 1-800-KEARNEY or e-mail tours@unk.edu. A registration fee of $10 will be assessed at check-in, which begins at 9 a.m., in the UNK Nebraskan Student Union. Last year, about 200 seniors from the surrounding area attended.

Senior Day will open with welcome speeches by Chancellor Doug Kristensen and Loper Liaison president Brad Green ofGrand Island.

Breakout sessions presentations will include: Financial Aid, Honors Program, Campus Ministries, undergraduate research, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Residential and Greek Life, UNK athletics, UNK intramurals, music and performing arts, National Student Exchange, ROTC and study abroad.

UNK Senior Day schedule of events is as follows: 9-9:45 a.m.- Check-in at the Nebraskan Student Union; 9:45-10 a.m.- Welcome by Chancellor Doug Kristensen and Loper Liaison president Brad Green; 10-11:30 a.m.- Tour of campus; 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.- Academic appointments; 12:15-1 p.m.- lunch; and 1-1:20 p.m.- Breakout Session 1- 1:30-1:50 p.m., Breakout Session 2 – 2-2:20 p.m., Breakout Session 3.
