The Japanese Association at Kearney (JAK) will host the 2009 Japanese Festival on Sunday, Nov. 8, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 5-8 p.m. in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room.
The event will feature traditional Japanese food such as Karaage, which is a Japanese fried chicken, potato salad and ketchup rice, as well as a traditional Japanese ethnic dance called “Soran” and traditional Japanese songs. In addition, the event will have booths set up featuring Japanese TV games, Kanji face painting, costumes and pop music.
JAK is a student-run organization that creates and promotes a better understanding of Japan, and the cultural exchange among the student body, faculty and staff of UNK and the community.
