UNK– Department of Counseling and School Psychology graduate students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney placed 12th in the nation in the 2009 American Counseling Association (ACA) Student Ethics Competition.
The annual ACA competition tests knowledge and application of the legal and ethical guidelines of the counseling profession. The four-member team worked on ethical case research to develop the UNK entry that identified ethical and legal dilemmas, cited relevant professional ethics codes and created solutions.
ACA has sponsored the ethics competition for graduate students for five years, with team entries being judged on critical analyzes and an appropriate ethical decision making plan to respond to the ethical situation.
At UNK, the students are also active in Chi Sigma Iota graduate counseling honor society and the Nebraska Counseling Association. In March they participated in leadership training at the ACA National/International Conference in Charlotte, N.C.
