UNK is one of nine Statehood Birthday Parties

More than 200 fourth grade students from regional elementary schools will participate in the Statehood Birthday Party celebration event at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Monday, Feb. 23, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The observance, which marks the date that Nebraska became a state, will take place in the Fine Arts Recital Hall.

John Gale, Nebraska secretary of state, will be on hand and will be available for interviews immediately after the
event at 2:30 p.m. Those who would like a one-on-one interview with Mr. Gale, should contact the UNK Office of
Media Relations (308.865.8454) before noon on Monday.

Among the special guests of the day will be the 2009 Miss Rodeo Nebraska Amy Amack from Chadron, who will be representing the rodeo history in Nebraska, and Tom Bassett, who will be in costume representing the railroad history of
Nebraska.
