UNK– Alpha Phi, a social sorority, will host their annual Red Dress Poker Tournament at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, UNK Health and Sports Complex in March.
Profits from the fundraiser, set for March 27, will be donated to the American Heart Association, the sorority’s philanthropy. Last year, almost $10,000 was raised.
“It’s a normal poker Texas holdem’ tournament with a chipping up schedule and buy backs,” said Krystine Hoefer, president of Alpha Phi. “Perhaps the only unusual thing would be the fact that the dealers, who are Alpha Phis, wear red dresses in support of the American Heart Association.”
Prizes awarded will be donated from the Kearney community.
“Last year, the top prizes consisted of two round-trip tickets to Vegas,” Hoefer said. “Other prizes included Guitar Hero, Husker football tickets and a grill.”
